Planning electrical works for an industrial facility
From load assessment to testing, the decisions that make electrical installations safer and easier to maintain.

1. Start with the connected load
List machines, lighting, HVAC and future expansion to estimate demand. A realistic load assessment guides transformer, panel and cable sizing.
2. Design the distribution clearly
Decide where panels, bus ducts and cable trays will run and how they are protected. Clear routes simplify installation and later maintenance.

3. Coordinate with other services
Cable routes, lighting and earthing need to be checked against HVAC ducts, fire pipes and structure. Coordination drawings avoid clashes on site.
4. Follow the applicable standards
Installation, earthing and protection should follow the applicable standards and the approved design. Agree who is responsible for approvals and inspections.
5. Test and document before handover
Record test results and provide as-built drawings, labelling and operating information. Good documentation helps the operations team from the first day.
