Planning fire fighting systems as part of the facility
Fire protection works best when it is coordinated with the building design from the start.

1. Start from the approved fire-safety design
The system should follow the approved design and the requirements of the authorities. Confirm what the design includes before pricing and procurement.
2. Consider storage and occupancy
Stored materials, rack heights and building use influence the protection needed. Share accurate layout information with the design team.

3. Coordinate pipes and equipment
Sprinkler pipes, hydrants, pumps and tanks need space and structural support. Show them on the coordinated services drawings.
4. Plan water supply and power
Fire pumps and water storage depend on reliable supply. Confirm the electrical and civil interfaces early.
5. Test and train
Agree testing and inspection steps before handover. Staff should know the system layout and how to respond.
